50th ANNIVERSARY CORVETTE
To commemorate fifty years of Corvette the General has polished his flagship to an
all time luster. An exclusive body color called anniversary red is complimented by the champagne shale leather interior and anodized wheels. Adorned with the fiftieth
anniversary badgeing, there is no mistaking the significance of this car.
The big innovation is the new Magnetic Selective Ride control. This incredibly complicated system adjusts shock dampening,
independently, in real time, as road conditions change. Tiny iron particles in the shock fluid react to an electro–magnet built in to each shock. When the system wants a
stiffer ride the magnet is engaged and the iron particles form a composite matrix, making the shock fluid less viscous and stiffening the shock. All this occurs
in a fraction of a second. In fact, at sixty miles per hour the ride computer is sampling and making adjustments for every inch of forward travel. The system is
standard on the anniversary model and an option on ’03 coupe and convertible. The system is not available for the Z06.
With all that said it is important to remember that this is still a Vette, if you want
luxo-ride than you should look into a Cadilac. However if you are looking for Race-car-like performance and handling in a package rated best premium sports car
in initial value two years running -- then the 50th year Corvette may be for you.
And don’t think the world’s largest automotive manufacturer would let their sporting
flagship turn fifty and not make a big deal of it. General Motors has a weekend event planned for June of 2003 starting with a gathering at the Corvette Museum in Bowling
Green, Kentucky followed by a cruse to nearby Nashville, Tennessee. Once in Nashville Enthusiasts will be treated to a number of Vehicle displays and
presentations as well as concerts and perhaps best of all, the organizers are expecting thousands of Corvettes to attend from around the world. Dates for this historic event are the 27th and 28th of June 2003. For more information go to www.GM.com .
